Sarah Bloom, who recently became litigation director of Mass Deportation Defense and Rubin | Pomerleau's newest attorney, spoke to reporters last week about the switch from her roll as acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Rhode Island.
"I am working on the other side of cases that I used to represent the government in," she said to NBC 10 reporter Maddie Heimsch.
Attorney Bloom worked for nearly 30 years in the DOJ. In 2022, she began serving as the first assistant U.S. Attorney in Rhode Island before being appointed as acting U.S. Attorney for the district last year. She will now be heading Mass Deportation Defense, a nonprofit created in late 2025 to combat the immigration crisis and protect against abuse of constitutional rights.
"Personally, I feel that the need for me right now was to be providing that kind of council and representation to immigrants and noncitizens who are facing detention and deportation," said Attorney Bloom.
She is enthusiastic about bringing her skills and dedication to this new chapter in her career.
"I am really looking forward to being able to help people peruse the right to live and work here legally and bring up their families and support the generations to come," said Attorney Bloom.
